Weird Deer
We spotted these deer at the intersection of Drahner and Barr roads. They are about half as tall as regular deer, and have unusual faces.

This could be an exotic species that escaped from one of the deer farms or hunting clubs, but it’s more likely a mutation of the whitetail species. The runt of the litter possibly? The general body structure is that of a typical whitetail deer and the head is consistent with some mutations I have seen. It is very similar to the deer I found at our home in North Muskegon that escaped from a wildlife rehab location in the area. That particular deer had a severe jaw/teeth deformity, and was ½ the size of a normal deer too. Variations in nature?
Thanks Kendrea (and Uncle Jim) for the theories. The idea about it being a mutation could be contradicted by the fact that there are TWO of them that look like that. (Those pictures are of two different deer.)
Maybe I should send the pics to the Leader. The deer were easy to photograph, they just sat there on the side of the road looking at us, like they lived there. But it was not a fenced-in spot.

Looks like a llama face to me. Did it chew like a camel or llama? Great photos, and very observant comments. Aunt Chris
ps- Oakland Co. has better road kill than Macomb Co. We just have opposum, stray cats, and the occasional skunk
There is a llama farm north in Oxford, and all these deer running around...can that happen?
I'm sure it can happen. How do you think we ended up with Ligers? :) What do you think, is this a leer or a ddama?
I can't find any info on deer and llama crossbreeding. There is a Cama, half Camel, half Llama.

Hi there, I found your post while trying to identify my own weird-looking deer creature, after Googling something like "deer that looks like a llama." It led me here. I don't know if you've found out since posting this, but your guy here is a pudu, a type of deer!
