Pie Dish Giveaway!
You wouldn't think that someone who doesn't know much about cooking would write about it very often, but apparently I have. Somehow, the people from cookware.com found my blog and decided that it would be an appropriate place to host a giveaway of something from their collections. Imagine that!
I looked back and I guess I have written about food and cooking quite a bit. Between describing my own attempts, working with the kids at theirs, or just ranting about the changes to Sanders Bumpy Cake, it has added up.
Which makes sense if you think about it. Food is such a central part of our lives, of course we are talking about it in addition to preparing it and eating it. (I might have been doing a bit too much of that last one lately!) And, as I've mentioned before, cakes are at the heart of just about every celebration and event we seem to have. I've got the pictures to prove it!
Also, cakes can also be funny! If you haven't already, check out cakewrecks.com. You will sit there at your computer laughing at cakes. Hilarious.
So for this giveaway I got to pick out one fabulous item for one of you lucky readers to WIN. I selected this adorable covered apple pie dish. Just think how awesome you would look walking into a party holding this cutie, regardless of the appearance of whatever lurks inside. It would also look good as a decoration in your kitchen. Because I said so. You know you want it.
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, and from those I will randomly select a winner. You could write about a favorite cake or food of yours, provide a recipe, or just say hi. (US and Canada only) I'll pick the winner at the end of the month, Monday, November 30. Good luck!
Thanks to Jamie from CSN stores for making this happen. Check out their sites for Christmas Decorations and Dining Room Furniture

Your other readers could have it. I have the official pie carrier from tupperware. However, I did lose the insert for it where pies could be stacked inside of it. So it is a huge carrier just for one pie. But I have another Tupperware imitator that holds a pie. And I'd rather bake cookies anyway.Aunt C
Mindy, this is soo cool! I have been having my own adventures in learning to cook better for my family. My daughter Ari and I have been having fun with recipes and she has been developing some of her own: Ari Chips (Yukon Gold Potatoes sliced thin and sprinkled with panko bread crumbs and seasoning), and different pancake variations. We are having a ton of fun. I can't wait to check your blog in the future--you're a natural writer and cook!
I think it should be a random drawing so I have a chance to win too. Put the names in a hat and pick. I didn't get the cooking gene either so I look for items at the grocery store that say "heat and eat."

Did you know that Hal is now in love with making apple pies? We buy a pre-made crust, and then cut and peel apples and follow a recipe. But he thinks it is somehow healthy because it has fruit in it. We will make one for Thanksgiving, but be taking it to his sister Fay's house. Just wanted you to know about that new thing he does...
That is the most darling pie piece I have seen.
What would be great in there is a spinach quiche.
Love spinach quiche! South Beach Diet cookbook has a nice one. Even better: Greek Spinach Cheese Pie!
I'm in...I'm in....I eat pie...apple being my favorite!
I have always preferred making a pie over making a cake. I think I prefer eating pie over cake as well except you miss out on the frosting part which, in my opinion, is the only reason to eat cake. Do you know there are people who don't like frosting. They eat the cake and leave a lump of sugary goodness right there on the plate. That's just wrong on many levels. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like a good apple pie especially with a little caramel and a pecan crumb topping. Excuse me, I need to go make a pie now.
